Alameda Greenhouse History

We have been around in some form or another since the 1960s. Can you believe it? We have seen a lot of history, and a lot of changes of our own. nursery.

Before we were Alameda Greenhouse, we started out as a hydroponic tomato farm run by a gentleman named Al Bouton and his wife Louise. He got the inspiration to build his greenhouse here after working at a flower shop and deciding to strike out on his own. Wanting to expand his business into bedding plants, he hired Steve Skinner in 1986. The greenhouse took off, and over the years we grew from one greenhouse to nine! We would eventually have hundreds of pepper and tomato varieties, and plant thousands of perennials every year. He would also develop a skilled, bombastic team of loyal staff.

With Steve's passing in 2014, his partner Kimberly did her best to uphold his legacy until her own passing in 2018. We now have brand new ownership who has created a team that believes in honoring the legacy of Alameda. We hope our passion in greenhouse growing  will secure its place in the hearts of those in the North Valley, and in the history of New Mexico. When you stop by; We hope you'll see what we came from, as well as what we've become!
